In My Hands
My thoughts I found in my hand
And my joy right in my heart
If the clay for the porter I stood in
Then why run?
For now I know,
I carry my joy in my hands.
The hoe is found there, in my hands
As the land is vast in sight
Why then plead with hunger to feed?
For now I know,
I carry my joy in my hands.
I feel lost
By the one leading me by hand
On my blind side I'm led
But here I fell into this pit,
As I succumb to sounds of mockery.
For now I know,
I carry my sight in my hands
Teach me! Teach me!!
Whiles the books are agape.
And my knowledge I see in your hands,
For the little wisdom I tried to amass
Locked up in your head
Oh! Lord, I pray for your feed.
But there rest the book in my hands,
For now I know,
I crumble my sight in my hands.
